Massachusetts snow removal law faces test in latest storm

Massachusetts got hit hard with this latest storm, and with it, a test of the new snow removal law is forthcoming. This new law means that property owners are required must take reasonable care to remove snow accumulation from their property and keep accessible areas safe to travel, lest they be held liable. In the past, MA property owners had an exemption from liability for “natural accumulations”. Now with the new ruling, the property owners are beholden to provide a reasonable effort to make sure the safety of the public is considered -the only intangable is determining what snow and ice removal efforts are reasonable.

With the severity of this latest storm, the functional question is where to put ths snow that has built up. Plows and snowblowers are being used in force, but they have to put the snow somewhere.
